The following message is forwarded on behalf of the Social Workers Action Network: an informal network within the PSA that aims to unify, inspire, inform, and advocate for social workers.
The announcement of Terms of Reference for a review of Child Youth and Family has caused considerable concern within the social work community. There is a worrying absence of the voices of social workers and communities of interest, particularly Māori and Pasifika service users and carers.
SWAN is a network that seeks to unite social workers across the vast variety of PSA-covered workplaces and to organise around issues facing our community.
Social workers often deal with clients who are facing the effects of growing inequality, poverty, the housing crisis and welfare reforms. To compound this, we often deal with constant change within our workplaces.
Please attend our SWAN network planning meeting in response to the CYF review.
Date: 28 April | Time: 5.30-7.30 pm
Location: PSA Office, 155 New North Rd, Eden Terrace, Auckland. ( next to the Mahatma Gandhi Centre )
